DREAMS OF BEAUTY IN A BEAUTIFUL WORLD

'Beauty is an ecstasy; it is as simple as hunger. There is really nothing to be said about it. It is like the perfume of a rose: you can smell it and that is all.'
W. Somerset Maugham

Working with artists across London, Maritsa Designs was born of a desire to create unique beautiful and sustainable accessories for you to cherish.  Our luxurious scarfs and bags are exclusively designed from our London studio and carefully handcrafted in the UK, using rich, sumptuous fabrics, such as silk, velvet and leather.  We also pride ourselves by producing sustainable products, produced in an eco friendly and ethical way. “I’ve always loved fashion and beautiful things and with a lots of artistic friends establishing 'Maritsa Designs' seemed like a very natural progression to make. Sustainability is also at the heart of what we do, and in our throw away culture, we want to create those special accessories you will love and keep for ever.' explains founder Tanja Maritsa.  The very first catalogue ‘FEMME’, designed by Tanja Maritsa, is about celebrating womanhood, and all her qualities: beauty, strength, compassion, fragility….. So step into our world, inject a splash of glamour into your life, and instantly transform your look!

Values and Sustainability

Long Story Short

Everything is made on demand, in London, so we know who's making it for you. Because we make on demand, there is no waste. We use, just what we need.

Core Values

Our core values are to support and nurture creativity and originality, and change the way people buy lifestyle products. Made in the UK, all our staff are based in London. We do everything locally here, which means a low transport footprint.  Our manufacturers source a large amount of our fabrics from UK mills, ensuring strong relationships and continuity of product lines.

Skilled Technicians

Our manufacturers are all under one roof and this enables them to control every step maintaining high quality, fast delivery times, fast and continual improvement of the processes and products. All staff, from technicians to fabric printers through to the sewing department are valued and our manufacturers ensure a friendly and productive workplace.

Sustainability

Eco Inks

Our printers use water based inks that are non-toxic and disposed of via a local waste management company. Their eco-friendly print process means no contaminants of any kind enter the water course. Unwanted post-manufacturing fabrics and garments are safe for recycling, up-cycling or donation to local clothes bank.

Fabrics

Our manufacturers source most of their fabrics from inside the EU and always ask about where fabrics have come from, demanding safe working practices and fair wages. More and more, as the customer and environment demands it, they are aiming to source fabrics from eco-approved production chains, such as OEKO-TEX® and GOTS.

Transport

We keep our transport footprint as low as possible and with the whole manufacturing process in one facility there is less intra-facility transportation. 80% of our supplies are from UK suppliers and all deliveries are kept to a minimum.

Water

No water is used in the processing, so other than staff requirements and facility cleaning, our manufacturing facility is waterless. This is a big plus in the fabric printing industry where some companies are forced to use lots of water in their processing. Our manufacturers are able to avoid that model completely for good reason.

Electricity

We all aim to be as efficient as possible when it comes to the consumption of electricity. Our manufacturers schedule machines to power up and down on timers and stagger consumption diversity so they operate constantly within a known tolerance bandwidth. Man and machine management is constant to ensure well managed consumption only when required.

Gas

Our manufacturers use no  gas.

Waste and Recycling

Paper, cardboard and plastic packaging. These materials are recycled by the local London authority.

Scrap wood and metal from packaging and pallets.  These items are collected and recycled by local companies.

Fabric off-cuts and remnants.  Where possible our manufacturers re-use off-cuts and remnants as fillings, linings or trim for other products, meaning very little goes to waste.  They also supply charities, schools, colleges and universities with mixed bags of fabric off-cuts.

Eco Friendly Packaging

Eco-friendly packaging is the future for our planet and all our packaging boxes are recyclable and made from cardboard.
